French Bulldog

The XXVIII Autumn International Show was the last of its kind. To win a CAC point from now on there will be only the breed Show and the Madrid Spring Show. The show was held in the exhibition centre in the Casa de Campo park. Good organisation and excellent atmosphere. Despite the reduced number of dogs compared to previous years the quality of the dogs on show was extremely high. With such a fine setting we had to be on top form. And so it was, we got Excellent, Best of Breed in Young dog class, competing with a beautiful fawn bitch, our much loved friend Camilla ( Judge: Kirsi Laamamen). Later came the real fun, Best of Group, with some real beauties, gems of the hairdresser's art, but..... The judge Nicola Arini (Italy), a specialist in Frenchies, gave us the eagle eye, Monty stared right back and the judge blinked first. Second in group nine! Si señor. Things are looking up.

Our first show outing was in the National and International Show of Portugalete near Bilbao in the Basque Country, 9th July under the eagle eye of judge Mr. Conny Bystróm. Monty amazed us with his best behaviour in the ring. In Puppy Class he won Best of Breed, Best of Group and competing against a splendid Neapolitan Mastin and his good friend and neighbour Honey ( a lovely Alaskan Malamute) he won a very respectable 3rd for Best Puppy in Show. Nice one Monty.

Our second show was on the 22nd of October . This time we went to Bilbao to the Exhibition centre where we were subjected to an unbearable Public Address system reminiscent of a 1960's railway station. The judge was Ms Marianne Furst-Danielson. She gave us Excellent, Best of Breed , but the same judge allowed her debility for ribbons 'n' bows to give the best of group to a Tibetan Terrier. Our heartfelt congratulations. Our next outing will be in Madrid, for the Autumn International. Again we will be in Young Dog Class only 11 months old.
