French Bulldog

The French Bulldog is a most fascinating animal, much smaller than the British variety. In fact much more a pet dog, though too big to be classified as a toy. Personally I think them one of the nicest and smartest of the non-sporting breeds. There is the same difficulty about breeding them as in their British cousins, owning to their large heads an narrow hindquarters. The bat ears are a feature of the breed and add to the quaint and attractive appearance. They are most intelligent and good tempered. To anyone wanting a really nice house dog and pet for town or country, they are ideal. Taken from: "Pedigree Dog Breeding" for pleasure or profit. UK, 1925 |
